Our Families farming history began way back in the early 1700's when our ancestors migrated to Pennsylvania from what was than known as Saxony Germany. On April 20th, 1734, our first family members sailed from Germany to what is now known as Penn's Landing in Philadelphia, PA. They sailed aboard the Ship St. Andrew, mastered by Capt. John Stedman. On Sept. 22, 1734 our first Family Farm was settled near Society Run in Fredrick Twp., Montgomery County, PA. PIG Farming was our families specialty from 1734 until the mid 1950's. Allot has changed since than. Our Christ centered cow-calf operation in now located in Springfield Twp., Bradford County, PA, where we raise a closed herd of 100% Grass-fed/Full-blooded Brahman/BEEFALO. We keep our late spring calving in sync with nature, which matches our heifers & cow's highest nutritional requirements to our farms highest and best production of fresh forages through our rotational pastures. We also raise year-round pastured TAM-ROC cross pigs. Our poultry consists of brown egg layers, and we have 2 ranch horses.
We organically maintain 100 acres that consists of 13 acres of rotational BRAHMAN/BEEFALO pastures, 2, 1/2 acre rotational pig pastures, 2 acres of rotational Horse pastures and approx. 84 acres of Alfalfa, Clover/Grass, and Mixed grass hay fields.
We have never used chemical pesticides or herbicides on our pastures, hay fields or fence lines. We are NOT a certified Organic farm, because we reserve the right to treat our animals if there is a life threatening sickness or injury. We do however prefer the natural & organic approach to farming to promote sustainability and healthy living for our animals, environment and our families that includes our customers.
